Basic Firearms Training / MD HQL – Dec. 14, 2022
December 14 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm$125.00
True “show up & shoot” class!!
This 4+ hour course lays the foundation for all future pistol training. Class curriculum is appropriate for both MD & PA residents and qualifies MD residents to apply for a Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL). Safety, range etiquette, clearing, loading, equipment, fundamentals of fire, common mistakes, and firearm safety mindset are the main subjects tackled in this essential course. Though this training is designed for beginners, the subject matter and techniques allow students to build realistic skills that can survive the test of stress and small time constraints.
This class will expand upon the basic requirements set forth by the State of Maryland for the application of a Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL). In addition to those requirements, students will learn about selection of a firearm based on purpose & planned usage, care & cleaning of their firearm, and basic trauma care. We will discuss alternate uses of force and what are the required elements for lethal use of use. We’ll shoot more rounds than the single round required by Maryland law. Our goal is to start building muscle memory in the mechanics of using a firearm.
If you are NOT a Maryland resident, this class will teach basic firearm safety with live fire and includes a Pennsylvania law section.
Students may bring their sons or daughters under 18 years of age for half price. Use coupon code “KidsSAFE50” for your child registration.
The class material for Basic Firearms Training / MD HQL is derived from the USCCA’s “Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals” book, but does NOT grant the student with the required training to apply for a Maryland Wear & Carry permit. The intent of this class is to teach basic firearm safety as required to apply for the State of Maryland Handgun Qualification License. By registering, you acknowledge this information.
A Basic Firearm Safety Training Certificate will be issued to each student at the successful completion of class. Some states will accept this as their requirement for training to apply for a concealed handgun permit. If you have questions, please speak with the instructor prior to registering.
All students will be required to electronically sign a waiver & hold harmless agreement before class releasing Donald K. Miller II, SAFE Firearms Training, LLC and Seitzland Rifle Club of any responsibility after the class. SAFE Firearms Training, LLC does carry liability insurance for any issues that arise during the class.
Training is valid for 3 years and must be completed prior to submitting an application for a MD Handgun Qualification License.
NOT INCLUDED: Maryland LiveScan fingerprinting and Maryland State Police license fee.
If you cannot attend the registered class, a credit will be offered for a future class, good for 1-year from original class date. No refunds will be offered.
